Finds from the Weekend

As I mentioned in my post before, we visited the Factory in Franklin, Tn. The Factory is an old stove factory where they have now turned it into a place for artists to share their work. They also have an antique store in which I found this beauty ...

I have been wanting one, and I found it in a booth that was crammed full of good stuff. The kind of booth where you wedge yourself in the middle of it and basically sit so you are surrounded by whimsical items. The price said $20, and I smiled and explained to the little fan that it would be going home with me!

As we traveled the back roads, we passed a Goodwill, were our car stopped on command. Luckily a TSC was next door, so my husband was occupied as I was in search of old books to tear apart. My heart may stop when I do this, but I am determine to make my Christmas decorations this year. Yes, I realize that this is crazy, believe me I get bugged eyed myself, but I just want to try it.

I was most excited over the dictionary and hymnal.

Can't wait to show you progress! For know the ideas are all in my head, and I hope I can make them as good as they appear in this crazy brain of mine.

Fall Door Decor

Wreaths or some kind of door decor always seems to be a must!

I have gone through many different things over the years, so I decided to be a little bit different this year for fall. I was craving some blues, greens, and browns to go with the orange this year.

So I dug in my stash and dug out several fabrics. That orange burlap was on the clearance section of Hobby Lobby. I had a hard time passing that up!

Hot glue (be careful because you can burn the snot out of your figure. I speak from experience! :))

Frame

I hot glued the flowers on some felt with some pins. I wanted to make it removable so I can continue to spicy it up. I found that thumb tacks work great.

 

I made many rolled flowers, yo-yo flowers, and tattered flowers ...

I also made a small banner

I think I am in love! I find myself opening the door just to look at it!

Fall Decor ... Dining Room

Another fun room! I just love my little Peter's Birds!

I wanted to incorporate a little bit of turquoise and blues.

I couldn't decide how to use these glass containers so I just flipped them over and put fabric leaves underneath.

Fall Decor ... Living Room

I don't know if you receive Better Homes and Gardens, however their September cover fascinated me! I had to somewhat recreate it so off to Pier One I went!

I knew they would have something and what could be better than ginko leaves?( I am a "W" girl through and through!)

I shopped my house and pulled this white vase out of the guest bedroom. I paired it with some marbles and fabric leaves ...

I love keeping the corks from wine bottles. I has taken me 2 years to collect this! The ones that look rough were the ones I opened. I haven't quite got the hang of it!

I love how it looks in my pottery!

I love this look. The textures, the pottery, the colors! I had so much fun doing this!

Last minute fling ... Before and After

Well, I had made my list of projects of what I wanted to accomplish before going back to school, and this was not on the list.

This was one of those projects that got in my head, and I had to do it. Like yesterday.

I will say that it wasn't bad, except for the taping.

Blue tape is called blue painter's tape which I found out was a double negative.

It kept falling until I painted over it and then some of it stuck to the wall. Hello, painter's tape!

I was told later the green tape is better to use. I have never even heard of green tape, but will be using it the next time I try to paint some racing stripes (as my husband calls them!) on my wall.

Small Changes

I wanted a little POP to my china cabinet, and when I saw this wrapping paper at Target I thought

Wrapping paper + Double Sided Tape = Instant pop!

and I love it!

Remember when I said that I still working on this area ....

Well here it is now ...

 I bought the corbels a few months ago and stashed them away for a rainy day. Ken made the shelf for me ...

I bought the little quart milk jar last week and found the rest of these things around the house.

I wanted an "Anthropology" look in here, and I believe I got it!

Ken made that wooden box last year, and I just had him shoot two screws in the wall to hang it. Love the cook books in here. I don't know about you, but I love reading cook books! Now they will be out and easily accessed.
