The Art of Letter Writing ...

Letters are a dying art, as we can tell with the price of postage these days.

It makes me sad, but how cool is it that you can instantly get information to someone? It is fast, easy, and free.

This fast paced life has become a necessity, but letter writing is of a slower, simpler period.

Simplicity seems to be the latest trend even as we hang on for dear life!

~

First of all, you need some fun stationery.

I ordered mine from Vistaprint. I always add the linen finish just to have a special touch.

Next, think of someone who may need a little lift.

I don't know about you, but it seems that whenever I get a little note or letter in the mail, it is exactly when I need some encouragement.

The timing is always perfect!

Once you know who you are writing to, write from the heart, letting them know exactly how much they mean to you.

Add some humor if possible.

Humor is always the best medicine.

Finally, lick that envelope (or use a sponge), put on that postage, and place it in the mail!

You never know. The favor will most likely be returned very soon.

And speaking of that, I have a lot of favors to return!

My Favorite Things .... Fall Edition

Fall is one of my favorite seasons - the cooler air, crunchy leaves, beautiful colors of red, purple, green, yellow, and orange, pumkins of all shapes and sizes, and slower moments.

I know it is not offically Fall yet, however, I am pretending it is ...

I thought I would share what I have been pinning and a sneak peak at my fall decor ...

My Favorite Things ... Summer Edition

As summer comes to a close, I thought I would share my favorite things this summer.

All-Purpose Flour and I got to be really good friends

as I fried uncertain amounts of squash, okra, and tomatoes. I also made cakes and tortillas.

Hoda and Kathie Lee consumed my life from 10:00-11:00 each day.

Desperate Housewife Seasons 1-6 carried me through lunch and afternoon activities - sometimes on the couch, doing a project, folding laundry, or sometimes on the couch.

I updated my blog and spent countless hours reading blogs and facebook. My social knowledge then was up to the minute. Now I am two or more days behind. Boo.

I learned a lot about my garden - apparently 20+ tomato plants cannot fit in an 8x16 space, white worms like squash plants, and oh my word, if you plant a whole package of okra seeds, you will have enough okra to feed you and your entire street!

 I have already mapped out where and when I will be planting next year. Bring on Spring!

In the mean time, I will be so content with some Fall!

I enjoyed discovering flowers that just appeared out of no where.

Vacation was all I ever wanted ...

I enjoyed letting the Tootsie Girl boss me around ...

Listening to Pandora play constantly on my phone, computer, or TV was such a joy!

I also found Pinterest. Enough said.

Basically, I spent countless hours doing mindless things, I really enjoyed myself.

See you next year, Summer! May it be even better than the last.

My Favorite Things - Morning Edition

I am going to continue to show the love of my house and family today, but I promise that I will show some love to projects later this week.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mornings can be good or bad especially Monday mornings! Most of the time I am a morning person, but there are a few things that make my mornings even better ...
My morning begins waking up to my favorite husband ...
Considering he is my only husband, I think that I am one lucky girl.
By the way, we so don't look like this in the morning.
Then this brown eyed beauty is always waiting on the side of the bed because she is hungry,
but she is always smiling ...
I stumble in our kitchen and smile to this view. I love the doorway between our kitchen and living room, and I am still debating on the color to paint those cabinets!
and then of course this is a must!
(When middle sister and I lived together we would ask each other how we would like our coffee in the morning based on the Jackson 5 ( Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon and Michael - from darkest to lightest).
This one is looking a little like Michael. What can I say, I like a little coffee with my cream!
While I sip my coffee, I enjoy looking out my windows to my ...
garden ...
(which is still growing and I am a little concerned that it will all come in when I am starting school!)
and to flowers that I still have no idea the name of them, but love them!
This, along with a few verses, just makes my mornings a little sweeter so that I can face the day!
What makes you smile in the mornings?
