Craft Fair

Last Thursday, we participated in the Sidewalks Art Stroll in downtown Huntsville, Alabama.

This was a huge night, in that Huntsville was kicking off their Arts District and new open-container laws as well as continuing the weekly tradition of the Farmer's Market.

It was packed with people, and a perfect night for an stroll with inspiration, food, and spirits at every turn.

Our booth was tucked nicely in the shade and we took full advantage of it!

This is half of it ...

and the other half of it ...

and I wished we had taken a picture of the end of the night, because we did sell a lot, however, there were dark clouds rolling in which caused a scramble to load everything up.

We met a lot of people and were supported by family and friends by the droves.

There is no better feeling than know you are loved and supported in your dreams.

We truly appreciate all those that came out, hung out, offered suggestions, and left with our signs and cards for future purchases.

We even had a friend whose husband got a gift certificate from us for her to spend that night. There was a collected, "Awwwe," from everyone who saw it.

Husbands, that is worth taking notes over. :)

We don't know what direction this is going to take us. We do feel that God is opening doors for us, but how far, we do not know.

We are still in the developing stages, planning for new products, and enjoying this season of life.

It is often hard to describe our craft. I have tried being sophisticated and say that we sell typography word art and shabby chic organizational home decor. We got a lot of blank stares and heard some crickets.

So basically we are sign makers that enjoy making products that bring smiles to people's faces.

We love every minute of it!

We also offer other shabby chic accessories like chicken wire frames, banners, lampshades, chalkboards, pinwheels, organizational boards, and have plans of expanding to something that we are still working on. It will be fun and neat! We are excited!

We hope to be at the Sidewalk Stroll again in downtown Huntsville on July 18 and would love to see you there!

Craft Fair Weekend

This weekend was beautiful - the weather, the company, and oh the craft fair!

We worked for weeks preparing for this day. We, and I mean we, sewed banners into the wee-smas of the night until we finally left a bobbin defeat us. We covered ourselves in paint and one of us has scars from making chicken wire frames.

We had banners ...

We had beautiful chalkboards ...

It is so flattering to see people ooh and aah over your merchandise that you put your blood, sweat, and tears over.

We greatly appreciate all those supported us in this adventure!

We can't wait to do it again at the Sidewalk Arts Stroll in Huntsville, Al June 20!

Craft Fairs ...

There are times in my life that I just want to walk straight out of my comfort zone and just do it. I want to quit  being so afraid of everything and face my fears regardless of being accepted or rejected.

The last time I did this, I was lip-singing "Respect," throwing a boa off stage, and was voted "Best Performer" for Songfest at the W.

And I am still astonished that I did that, but it was so liberating!

So this time, I decided it was time that I follow my dreams of making and selling beautiful things for others to cherish.

So, we have entered the craft fair world for a little while anyways.

We have done two so far, and have been successful and accepted.

There is a tight, fun community within the craft fair gates, and I have loved talking with these fabulous people and learning a lot.

I took some quick pictures of our booth at my school's craft fair. And I do mean quick. So you have to bear with me. :)

This picture does not do our booth justice! I wanted something warm and inviting and spent weeks dreaming about it.

I made two wreaths. One is out of books, and I love that is untamed. The other is out of vintage sewing patterns. I am obsessed with patterns right now.

The chicken wire frames were fast sellers. It was probably that I had some cute models on it!

I also had two chalkboards that sold at the second fair.

I also have glass ornaments filled with vintage and sparkle.

Now, granted anybody can make these ornaments. Having eye candy at your booth invites people to come and stare for awhile as well as be inspired!

More chicken wire, dry erase boards, and ornaments.

Pallet wood signs ...

and a shabby chic dresser.

as well as more pallet wood signs.

Middle designed my business cards and stickers.

What we have learned so far:

1. We like doing local craft fairs that only lasts a few hours. The booth prices are reasonable and the environment is welcoming and fun.
2. We were constantly told our prices where too low. I priced like I want to shop, and I am still having trouble with pricing.
3. It is so much fun making connections with other vendors as well as customers.
4. I am going to do one more this season, but I am dreaming of what I can make for the spring.
5. I absolutely could not have accomplished this without Ken. He has support me, helped me, and even hung out with me. I think he gets a kick out of people watching!

So wish me luck as I continue to explore this new adventure!
