Weekend Highlights ...

This weekend has felt nice and slow, but went by extremely fast. I just wanted to savor the moments.

Friday, my wonderful in-laws came to town to celebrate my brother-in-law's birthday.

I spent Friday afternoon playing with Tootsie and making cupcakes while watching last week's Pam Am. This sounds like a dream, but the fact that I was constantly licking icing from my fingers and washing my hands, I know it was reality.

This is the first time I added icing to the middle of the cupcake. I must say it was easier than I thought. Just plop your icing tip in the middle of the cupcake and squeeze away. I am sure that you already know this, and I am a little tardy for the party.

Saturday, our electricity went out around 5 am, so what did we do?

Get up and start the day, of course!

Ken had to work anyway, so it was nice to get up, eat pop-tarts, and giggle about being up so early.

We totally do not act this way during the week. Only on the weekends!

After he left, I began reading Nicholas Sparks's new book The Best of Me. I liked it so much that I only took two days to read it. It was quite the mixture of several of his books. A good, fast read.

I also went shopping with my mother-in-law for curtain rods and blinds for the BIL. I love shopping for home decor, especially for someone else. I also got a few baskets and pears for the dining room, which you will see later.

Sunday, Ken cooked lunch for everyone, and then we took a very long nap before getting ready for date night.

Oh, Date Night, I have missed you!

We ate at the Scene Resturant before seeing this lovely man.

You may remember that I might be somewhat obessed with this fellow.

What better to end date night than with a little kitchen demo - more on that later as well!

So this weekend was busy but full of savory moments that I just want to take a mental picture of to carry in my heart forever.
