Yesterday, I gave you a glimpse of our Sunday meal and wanted to show how we did it.
Lately, I have had the desire to add more fruits and vegetables to our diets, but have lacked the creativity. I have found, however, that with a little bit of creativity you can make a very healthy meal, especially on the grill.
For instance:
Here is how we did it:
Turkey Smoked Sausage
This is the Butterball brand. We just took it out of the package, rubbed some Sweet Baby Ray's Barbeque Sauce on it and added my two best friends:
then grill for about 20-25 minutes.
Grilled Squash
3 squash sliced
1 tablespoon of olive oil
A couple of shakes of Cavendars and Chachere's
Mix all ingredients in a bag and pour into an aluminum foil packet. Grill for about 20 minutes.
Grilled Okra
8-10 okra, ends removed and sliced
A couple of shakes of Cavendar's and Chachere's
Mix ingredients together (can do it in the same bag that you did the squash). Spray an aluminum foil packet with cooking spray and put seasoned okra in packet to grill for about 20 minutes.
Grilled Peaches
2 ripe peaches, pitted and cut into wedges
Cooking Spray
Spray the peaches with cooking spray on both sides. Then place directly on the grill for about 20 minutes to bring out the sweetness, flipping the sides halfway through.
Very easy and healthy meal. The best thing is that clean up is a snap!
How do you add fruits and vegetables to your meals?
I'm probably going to make your mouth drop by admitting this, but I've never used Cavenders before! I'm thinking I might better try it! =)
