A Closet A Comin'

On Sunday afternoon my husband came to me with his project eyes. I knew that he was looking for something to do, and I had just the plan.

Our house is a 1970's ranch style with NO walk-in closets, little storage space, and no where to hide from a tornado. Well, we do have a tornado shelter, but I will take my chances in the house. The storm shelter is a little freaky!

We have enjoyed working on our home to bring it up to date as well as create more storage room. With that in mind, here is what we did:

Our kitchen closet looked like this ...

and I wanted more space.

After convincing him with my mad math skills that if we turned the shelves the other way, we would have a lot more space. He finally agreed as long as we rocked out to some Classic Rock while working.

What's a girl to do?

Well, "Pour Some Sugar On Me," and lets get started:

Nail gunning ...

Making sure that everything fits ...

Our outside workshop ... everything was painted white.

And finally, I our new pantry!

It only took about half a day to complete, and we even stayed up passed 9 o'clock to finish it!! It doubled our space, and I finally have a walk-in closet.

I think that I have opened the door, stood, and looked at it every chance I got in the past 24 hours.

Ken has made me one happy woman! He said that I was waiting on him hand and foot while he was working on this project. Well, of course I did. I have a few more projects that need to be done!

By the way, it also doubles as a tornado shelter just in case!

Have a very rockin' week!

  4. Looks fabulous! I don't have any good storage in this house or a pantry. We had to buy a cabinet to use as a pantry. Enjoy it! Thanks for linking up.

  5. Great job, it looks so much cleaner this way! I dream of a home that has a pantry, it is so annoying not having one!
