Wedding Bliss

I wanted to share with you all about our fabulously hot wedding this weekend! We had so much fun! The Bride and the Groom were so beautiful and handsome, and their kiss was phenomenal. He really laid one on her.

The wedding took place at my parents' house. The Groom worked really hard to make everything look so perfect for his bride. He often came by to help my parents, weed, plant flowers, mow, and spray among other things. He also did this for our wedding last year, so in turn pay back was gladly given. I have known the Groom his whole life and is like the son my father never had, but I am sure often wanted. The Groom's mother kept us when my sisters and I were small. She taught us songs like "Have You Ever Been Fishing on a Hot Summer's Day?" I often want to belt this song out when I am on the river! I then kept the Groom and his sister until they were old enough to keep themselves. They were precious children, and I only had to spank the Groom once. He refused to put up his BB gun, and I had watched The Christmas Story too many times.

I just wanted to recap the weekend. Friday night was the rehearsal, and everything went great. I was asked to be the wedding coordinator. This was my first gig. We had to do it twice. The first time I had the bride and groom's parents and grandparents on the wrong side and not walking in order. Go figure. The bridal party did beautifully. I don't know if it was my mad wedding coordinator skills or they were so hot that they wanted to do it right so they could go and eat. It was probably the heat. The second time around, was great! I felt that everyone knew what they would be doing the next day. Not only did we have a great rehearsal, we also downloaded the wedding music about 30 minutes before! Whew! The rehearsal dinner was fabulous. The BBQ was delicious as well as the homemade ice cream. I believe my father ate 3 or more bowls. I lost count. The rehearsal dinner was at a beloved lake house over looking a beautiful lake where I have spent countless hours swimming, walking, exploring on four wheelers, picking blue berries, and sledding in the winter times. It is one of my favorite places.

On Saturday morning, my Betty Love, mother, and sisters hosted a bridesmaid luncheon. Since the wedding and the reception was at my parents, lets just say that things were a little crazy there. We had to be at Betty Love's at 8:00 because the quiches had to be fixed and ready to go in the oven at 8:30. If you have ever tried to go any where with Hales, you will be late. Marriage has made me a little better, but trying to get everyone in the car was tedious. At 8:20my mother decides she needs to bathe and wash her hair.  I was very frustrated at this point.  I felt like I was herding cats. Needless to say, we finally got in the car. Everyone was silent until my mother spoke up and said, "Haven, if it is any consolation, I don't have on any underwear!" Well, they broke up the silence. Apparently since I was rushing so much, she only had time to grab and go with her underwear!

Everything with the brunch was fabulous! Mama even had time to put on her underwear. Betty Love had everything looking so beautiful. The bridesmaid table was decorated with the prettiest pink hydrangea that accented her Franciscan Desert Rose China that she received when she got married. The mothers and grandmother's table had a beautiful blue and white stripe table cloth with blue and white flower plates and a floating magnolia as the center piece. We served quiche, plantation cake, fruit, sausage muffins, and pigs in a blanket. Delicious!

The wedding and reception was wonderful! Everyone did great and the music was beautiful. My sister Alana was the maid of honor, and I do believe she was the best I have ever seen. Not only did she hold her and the bride's bouquets, she also held the flower girl and her basket after the flower girl had tried to climb the trellis that we did not stake down! The flower girl also jerked out Alana's huge pearl earring, and Alana just kept on smiling and holding her. We never did find the earring.

The rest of the party was fabulous - the music, dancing, food, ambiance, friends, and conversation. We had huge box fans and some with misters even all around the tents to help cool off. A good time was had by all.

My sweet Bride and Groom, thank you so much for allowing our family be apart of your big day! Everything was great! Good times, good memories, and thank goodness my mama had her drawers on!
